Civil Rights Project
(Part 1)
- There are 3 parts of this project
1. Notes over articles (6 main articles+2 you pick+ 3 Jim Crow personal narratives)
2. 2 Page Summary
3. Poster/ Prezi
--> You will have to turn in ALL 3 parts (notes, summary and poster!)
- First, you are to read all 6 articles in your packet
1. Historical Backgrounds
2. 13-15th Amendments
3. Enforcement Acts
4. Civil Rights Act
5. Civil Rights Act Declared Unconstitutional
6. Plessey V. Ferguson
7. Jim Crowe Laws
- Then, using the website, http://www.pbs.org/wnet/jimcrow/stories_events.html , you are to pick another 2 events that interest you (see timeline)
- Then you are to pick 3 personal Jim Crow stories to read they are short, I just want you to understand how life was like- you don't have to take extensive notes!(http://www.pbs.org/wnet/jimcrow/stories_narratives.html)
- Using ALL 11 articles you read and took notes on, write at least a 2 page summary over the information you have read--> I want you to connect all of the readings, how do they relate, how does it all tie together?
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT!?
(There is a dropbox on IPS online if you type it, but you can also hand write it!)
Then, using all of this information, you are to create either a poster or prezi that encapsulates all of the information you have learned, using exhibits. Be creative, use quotes from the story, pictures- whatever you want in order to express what you have learned
